Stranger

I saw her face the moment I looked

up at the rest of the world

She gave me a subtle smile

That only I could see

It was she who reminded me of who I am

And who I only can be

Thank you, stranger.

FLORIDA'S AMENDMENT 2 HURTS UNMARRIED PEOPLE!

So I intern for this amazing non-profit, Alternatives to Marriage. Our mission is to end marital status discrimination. To simplify what I mean, we fight for equality for all unmarried families in the US. Over 1/2 the population is unmarried, so it's crucial for us to do what we can, when we can. We've been around for 10 years, woot! Anyway, I really hate Florida right now because they're trying to pass Amendment 2. This is not only a constitutional ban on gay marriage, but also is refusing to acknowledge and protect all unmarried Floridians. This means that millions of Florida residents will face direct discrimination whether through housing, insurance, or employment; you name it, they'll exploit it. To help prevent Amendment 2 from being passed this November, I am running a campaign, trying to get AtMP's Florida members to get involved, become activists, get their friends and family to become members, and help GET OUT THE VOTE! This amendment only needs 40% of all eligible Floridians to vote against it for it not to be passed. Whoever actually reads my silly blog, if you care at all about this, check out our website become a member, donate, and/ let me know how you feel. If you know anyone in Florida, BE SURE TO TELL THEM EVEN IF THEY'RE MARRIED. Please folks, gay marriage is already banned in like, 24 states. Including discrimination against unmarried people will just make this all worse. Help prevent Florida from becoming the 25th state!

PLEASE VOTE NO FOR AMENDMENT 2! (Nov 4th, 2008) www.unmarried.org

Shakespearean Sonnet #1

I caught her staring back at me tonight
My head abruptly turned so I could see
Yet my cowardliness left me no might
To ask her if she'd care to dance with me
Instead she took the hand of a fat man
Who did not seem to look at her at all
And drove away with her in his old van
Coerced me to hide in the bathroom stall
I could not help but loath the sight of him
His eyes did not see her the way mine did
He chose to hide them under a hat brim
And stray away from her to place a bid
Although, the gambler truly has not won
For with me she will bear her only son.
